Liqaa Ma’al Arab 38 Q. Huzur is asked to address the Arabs as today is the day of Arafa. A. Huzur says that hajj is a great occasion. The concept of pilgrimage is common in all religions and seems to be a preparation for the ultimate Hajj. All nations and nationalities come together to celebrate these great things. Huzur says that there is a tendency by Muslims to visit the graves of saintly people. Dancing occurs and for someone who does not know the background to these activities, then the person would think it to be the birth or marriage or something of someone who is famous. In no other religion is there a meeting place where people from all over must meet and worship Allah. Muslims are the only people who are entrusted with the great task of unification of man. If there is one God then all of his creatures must all come together for His worship, in Islam the unity of God has been fulfilled. Khana Ka’aba is not only for Muslims but has been built for the whole of mankind; it is a House of God for everyone. It was forbidden to partake in the adulterous practices around the area of Khana Ka’aba, but other than that to stop anyone from visiting the first House of God is to go against the teachings of the Holy Qur’an. Another important point is that no where is Kahan Ka’aba related to Hadhrat Adam(as), it is related to nas which means mankind. From the time when man is able to understand to unity of God, then the House was to be built. But until a religion appears which address the while of mankind, then the house would not be necessary. Only when Islam came for the whole of mankind did the importance of Kahan Ka’aba reach its full purpose. The first stone used to build the first House of God descended from space and was directed by God to be used to build Kahan Ka’aba. The stone at first was white in could but because of the atmosphere of the earth, the stone turned to black. Huzur says that the Muslims are the best of the people and must serve mankind as Islam is for the whole of mankind. Muslims should love mankind as this is part of the purpose of Muslims. During Hajj all men are required to shave their heads clean, and they must wear two sheets. This reminds us of the first birth, when a child is born he has no hair and when a person leaves this earth then he is wrapped in two sheets. To shave ones head is to symbolically get rid of the filth of this world, in all religions to shave one s head is an act of piety, for example in Buddhism.
