On the 10th of Muharram every year, Muslims around the world mourn the tragic martyrdom of Hazrat Hussain (ra) in the battle of Karbala. But is it only Imam Hussain that we mourn or was there more collective loss of the Ummah in the tragedy of Karbala? Asif Mahmood Basit argues that the tragedy of Karbala is not only the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussein (ra) but also the martyrdom of Islamic unity and Muslim leadership - the two major elements Muslims need the most today.
